Damon being top-tier is exactly where he belongs. He had me hooked from the very first episode of tvd. Damon brings so much levity and humor into the show. He’s one of my favorite characters because of how complex he is. He went from not caring about anything, to caring about saving everyone including Elena and Stefan. He has such a big heart but hides it behind humor so he doesn’t get hurt. He spent 145 years searching for love, but always ends up getting betrayed or hurt the most. He has many flaws and that’s why I relate to him more as a character. He’s not perfect, and he’s gonna make some mistakes.

I love how elena gave damon one last kiss before he was about to die. Damon has been strung along with Katherine for 145 years and has been deprived of love for so long. Damon’s last moments with that kiss was so sweet. It shows how compassionate Elena is, and I love how she assured him that she liked him just the way he is. Elena gave him peace, the same way Damon gave rose peace.

I'd like to see a ranking without restrictions as in as many characters in one category as each of you please. Great present list.

What a precious cat just chilling🥰🥰 I always had a problem with how cheerful Caroline was after her best friend lost last family member… Makes me feel like she really doesn’t understand Elena’s pain. Like for example: when Jeremy got shot - she didn’t even realised that her mom was human and ring wouldn’t work… She didn’t cared.

Just to add some context, in the scene where Bonnie is getting in contact with the spirits to bring Jeremy back she specifically calls on Emily because Emily similar to Bonnie had feelings for Jeremy’s ancestor John Gilbert so only she would understand and why she helped bring him back.

Top tier is very spacial category for me that I can just put anybody in there and for that reason the only people I would put there is Damon and Elena. Elena is the most complex and realistic female character in the show, she is the representative of love in this show, she is literally the glue that holds the whole group together. She’s way more mature for her own age more than Caroline and Bonnie. She’s strong, courageous, selfless and super loyal and her capacity for forgiveness is unmatched in this show. She is literally the saviour of the souls who brings them back from darkness and helped repair the bonds that has been damaged. Her good qualities have been very overlooked by the fandom but she definitely deserves a top tier. Damon is another representation of love because he’s driven by nothing but love, his whole existence revolves around love. He’s by far the most complex character in this show and the depth of his character reminds me of an ocean because it has no end. His love comes from the places of sacredness and unity where only unconditional and selfless love exists. To him love is not even about being loved back, it’s about loving the person for the sake of just loving them, without asking for anything in return. It’s about seeing the smile on their face even if he’s not the one who’s making them smile. He’s the most resilient character in this show, he’s courageous, fiercely loyal, he’s caring and selfless in times even too selfless. He knows how to make peace with his dark side and use it for love and that makes him very mature and wise. His capacity to love with such a passion and devotion is also unmatched in this show. Damon and Elena are the only people who deserve top tier in my opinion.

Kat went to Damon for a number of reasons but the main one was because of Stefan. She would have destroyed any opportunity she may have had with him if she'd allowed Damon to die. As for the kiss Elena knew he loved her & thought he was drawing his last breath. She gave him a goodbye kiss/peck. Not as a lover but as a friend. I don't see anything wrong with it at all. Though I do agree she does have feelings for Damon but in that moment it wasn't anything more than a compassionate goodbye to a dying friend.

Matt and Tyler over Stefan is WILD. I still can’t understand what the girl on the right’s problem (sorry her name is escaping me atm) With Stefan is. Her reasonings don’t make sense to me 😅 My top tier is Stefan, Elena, Caroline, Alaric, Elijah and Damon Awesome is Katherine,Tyler, Bonnie, Jenna , Klaus and Cool would be Jenna, Lexi, Grams, Matt and Liz and Jeremy Meh would be Anna, John, Mason , Pearl and Andie and Rose Bin the rest

Damon 100% has moved on from Katherine she really hurt him. He cant control the memories that survice and although theres nothing that could make him take her back she will always have a big part in his life. I mean he waited on her for 145 years just to have his heart ripped out. After episode 1 of season 2 he was officially done and moved on. He lost all respect for her and he was already moving on before that but once he seen her he tryed to give her a chance to explain and instead she manipulated him into spiraling out of control. She lost all that control over him though after she did that.

I like your list because its very much not influenced by the community its what you 4 wanted mostly. 😊 though i did get my favorite character it top tier that being The Big Bad Vampire himselt Mr. Damon Salvatore. Would have personally put Elena and Klaus in Top Tier and moved Stefan to up to Awesome. My top tier would be 1. Damon 2. Klaus 3. Elena 4. Alaric 5. Stefan 6. Bon Bon Idk why but i find that when Stefan and Elena are on screen together just the two of them its the least entertaining times of their characters. Elena and Stefan are in my top 5 characters but they need to be interacting with other people for me to really enjoy them. Yes I am a Delena shipper but I like Elena so much more when shes interacting with Damon or someone other than Stefan by himself. I love when Stefan and Damon are interacting together. I feel Stefan needs someone to bounce off of for him to be at his best more than Elena does. Damon and Klaus I could watch them talk to a tree. They can be alone or with any character on the show and they make the episode for me but I need Damon or Klaus interacting with Stefan for him to shine if hes with one of the girls or alone i lose all interest in his character. Not 100% of the time but enough to make me notice.

Damon and Caroline are overrated. Bonnie and Stefan are massively underrated.

I sometimes read Katherine’s actions, in a very intentional way. Do I think she loves Damon yes, but she loves him because Stefan loves him. She always said “you loved me too much Damon” and I think she cares deeply about him but the love she has for him, is because of who he is in relation to Stefan.
